| Welcome >> Hello, my name is Debbie Sedgwick. I live in Leicestershire with my husband, Nick and our border collie, Lottie and our cat, Lily. I am a trained civil celebrant and hold the NOCN Level 3 in Civil Celebrancy. I am a member of the International College of Professional Celebrants (ICPC).
Prior to becoming a professional celebrant, I enjoyed working as a teacher and headteacher in primary education. I have worked with families in different ways throughout my working life sharing joyous moments with them and supporting them through difficult times and it seemed a natural progression to become a celebrant and help people mark life’s most meaningful moments with warmth, dignity, and a personal touch. Choosing the right celebrant for your occasion is important. Whether you are planning a wedding, civil partnership or vow renewal, a farewell to a loved one, or celebrating a unique chapter in your journey, I’m here to work with you to create a bespoke ceremony that is meaningful to you and truly reflects your wishes. Ceremonies are an expression of our love for each other and my ceremonies will encapsulate that love. Life is full of moments worth celebrating, let me help you create a ceremony that will live on long after the day has ended. I work throughout Leicestershire and Rutland but I’m happy to discuss travelling further for your special day. It would be a privilege to develop and lead a ceremony for you and your family. |

| Weddings, Civil Partnerships and Vow Renewals: A Ceremony Especially for You. Every couple has their own story to tell, and every ceremony should celebrate that unique story. Imagine the ceremony of your dreams, with heartfelt words, written just for you. By getting to know you as a couple and working closely with you throughout, I will design a ceremony that is personal, meaningful and truly yours. Whether you're dreaming of a large celebration with all your family and friends or an intimate occasion, I’m here to listen to your wishes and bring your vision to life. I celebrate diversity and love to work with all couples, whatever your circumstances. Together we will make memories to last a lifetime.. | ![]() |

| Funerals and Memorials: Honouring Lives with Dignity. It is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one and it is my role to help you. As a celebrant I will take the time to get to know the life story of your loved one. We can talk about your memories of them and how you would like to remember and celebrate their life. We will discuss music, poems and readings and how to create a heartfelt tribute that captures the unique person that they were. I am not affiliated to a religion and therefore the ceremony can be either non-religious or contain some religious elements such as prayers or hymns. You may want family or friends to take part in the ceremony by means of readings, personal tributes or music. Whether you are planning a traditional funeral service, an intimate memorial or a scattering of ashes, I will be led by your beliefs and wishes and will write and deliver a ceremony which honours your loved one and resonates with those who knew them. I will liaise with your funeral director and the crematorium or burial site on your behalf to ensure the ceremony runs smoothly and you have one less thing to worry about. | ![]() |

| Your Questions Answered >> | |
| Q: Can your ceremonies include rituals and traditions? DS: I'd be delighted to discuss rituals with you. There are many options available for example lighting a Unity Candle or a Blessing of the Rings at a wedding or including a Sand Ceremony at an adoption ceremony. It is something we can talk about when we meet. |

| Q: Can you advise me with how to include children in a ceremony? DS: I certainly can. Children can be included as part of rituals or with poems or music for example. I would need to find out more about the child then we can discuss how to include them. |

| Q: Do you only work in Leicestershire and Rutland? DS: No, I am happy to discuss travelling further afield to be part of your special day. Please get in touch using the enquiry form and I will give you a call to discuss this. |

| Q: Where can your ceremonies be held? DS: With a celebrant-led ceremony you have more freedom about where to hold your ceremony. For example, you could hold a wedding in a lovely barn, a vow renewal in your own garden or a memorial ceremony at a local sports club. The legal paperwork will take place in advance, such as registering the birth of a baby, obtaining a death certificate for a funeral or a short legal wedding ceremony at a registry office. |

| Q: Can you help me write a Eulogy? DS: I can write the whole eulogy, using the information and stories you tell me about your loved one or I can give you some ideas about writing it yourself. If you write it, you can choose whether you would like to read the eulogy at the funeral yourself or if you would like me to read it on your behalf. |

| Q: What is the difference between a humanist celebrant and a civil celebrant? DS: A humanist ceremony contains no religious content at all. A civil celebrant is able to include religious elements such as prayers or hymns if you would like them included. A civil celebrant can also include elements from two different religions or cultures and weave them into the ceremony for a new blended family. |
